What is a 3-Way Link Exchange?

by Admin on February 20, 2009

Google Buzz

Hi Guys.

This post is about What a 3-Way Link Exchange is!

A three-way link exchange refers to a kind of reciprocal link exchange among three domains instead of two. A reciprocal link exchange that is so popular today among webmasters is mostly a two-way linking.

Although there is a benefit in exchanging links in terms of SEO, it is said that search engines might not think such links are “natural”. While linking to another website is the core of the Internet, and this net is really built with millions of links, creating the dynamic of network, excessive reciprocal linking could be considered as a link scheme such as link farms.

To make reciprocal links look more “natural”, you can try a three-way link exchange.

reciprocal link exchangeIn normal reciprocal link exchange, you and your link partner exchange links with each other. Search engines can easily find that out. So, if you have many reciprocal links going in and out, each linking may not be weighed for the maximum value; thus your website may not increase PageRank faster.

reciprocal three way link exchange

In a three-way link exchange, three different domains must be involved. For example, site A links to site B, but not B to A. So, site B is only receiving a one-way link from site A and NOT linking back to it. Likewise, site C and site A are linked from one site but not linking back. Instead, site C and A are simply reciprocal-linking to different domains.

The way to create more natural links in a three-way link exchange is done by using a set of three one-way links. A, B, and C are only receiving one-way links, and they do not directly link back.

It is even harder for search engines to detect a link scheme if your link building strategy is based on three-way links because this pattern is usually seen in many websites in the Internet. To make it better, you can try four-way or even five-way link exchange. It is almost guaranteed that you could get the maximum result to increase your PageRank. In other words, 3-way link exchange is an attempt to disguise reciprocal link exchange.

Back links are simply a link from somewhere else to your site. It sounds easy to create them and it is easy, but you will need thousands of these links and you will need new ones every month. They may only take a minute to create but to create hundreds or thousands take lots of time and talent. Read more about Backlinking here.

Back links are really important in the world of Search Engine Optimization. If you want your site to do well in search engine listing results you have to have a good page ranking. If you want a higher page ranking you’re going to need to create lots and lots of back links.

It takes time and talent to do this but it will be worth it. Google receives 3,000 search inquiries a second. That’s 180,000 per minute. If you want your share of this avalanche of free business, you will need to work hard and work smart.

How Many Links Do You Need?

Lots and Lots. You need more than the competitor that is ranked number one with Google. If you do that, you will be number one. Let’s take a look at a few areas and see how many we would need to dominate that field.

- Top company in “search engine optimization” had 52,100 links

- Top company in “web site design” had 54,200 links

- Top Company in “custom T-shirts” had 72,000 links

- Top Company in “Tiffany Lamps” had 825 links

As you can see, the more competitive the area, the more links it takes to be number one. Plan to add as many links as you can every month for as long as you stay in business. Remember that your competitors are adding new links every month too, so the number of links you need keeps growing.

Beware Of Short Cuts To Success

As you surf the web, you will see sites that advertise short cuts to link creation. They offer to sell you hundreds of links. As you evaluate these services, realize that the quality of your links is important to your success. The sites you link to must concern themselves with similar topics to your site or they may be disregarded by the search engines. Also, the quality of the linking site is important. If the site is known for spam or porn, you may be seriously penalized search engine rankings just for being associated with it. Buying back links is fraught with danger. Choosing the site you link and actually creating the link to is a much better alternative.

You can read more about avoiding Linking Mistakes here.

Using Articles To Create Links

Writing informative articles is a great way to create back links. You can use the articles on your site and publish them to article directory sites. Every site that publishes your article will create a back link to your site. Other sites may pick up your article and publish it creating “viral” publishing and more links. You should assign someone to write one or two articles every month without fail or hire an outside source to do this for you.

Using Videos To Create Links

Another great way to create links and sell as well is to create video clips that tell your story or sell your product in an interesting way. You can use these clips to sell on your site and you can publish them to video sites like youtube.com, metacafe.com, viddler.com and many others. These get great rankings in the search engines. You should assign someone to write one or two articles every month without fail or hire an outside source to do this for you.

Using Social Networks To Create Links

Social networks like myspace.com are great ways to create quality links. Myspace is one of the most visited sites on the web, so links from it make your site rank as very popular. To create links from social sites, open an account, link to others with similar interests, and make comments that include a link to your site.

Using Blogs To Create Links

sBlogs want comments from readers. Visit blogs on similar topics to yours and on any popular blogs, leave a comment on a posting. Your comment can contain a link to your site. This should not be just self serving but should continue the dialog. For example, if your site deals with web marketing and you see a blog article on meta tags, you might make a comment like, “excellent article with good points. I also found good meta tag tools at www.yoursite.com” One great way to find good blogs is to set up a Google alert for all keywords you use and you will be notified anytime a post is made with those key words. Then, you simply visit the blog and make a comment.

That Sounds Like A Lot Of Work

It is a huge amount of work but just keep remembering those 180,000 inquiries per second. If you do not have the time to do this kind of work, there are micro ad agencies on the web who can do it for you. Outsourcing this work is very cost effective as it allows you to keep selling and managing while someone else creates the links that drive your site to the top of the inquiry list.

If you have any questions, you can ask them here.

5 Linking Mistakes You Should Avoid

by Admin on January 25, 2009

Google Buzz

Follow the following steps to avoid Link Building mistakes

1. Avoid unnatural links. I remember, in 2006, people were fine with any kind of links as Google didn’t used to give very high weight age to neighborhood and was only concerned about PR but in 2008, things are a lot different. Now a bad neighborhood can seriously damage your search engine rankings so be careful to what you are linking and from where your links are coming from.

2. Reciprocals don’t work anymore. In most cases, blatant reciprocal from links.php pages or running linkman and similar reciprocal scripts wont work, so don’t waste your time on them. You may get link partners (mostly pharma links) but you will be better of without them.

3. Never spam, as it doesn’t work. In the wonder years of 2005 (and before) people used to spam guestbooks heavily and it also used to work. But now, its sure shot method of getting kicked out from Google index.

4. Don’t use blackhat techniques, There are people who make tons of money by spamming and doing black hat, but they know what they are doing and are pro players. You being a rookie, can do serious harm to your good sites. Saying that, there is nothing wrong in testing the grey area of search engine rankings, just make sure you don’t do this on your good sites.

5. Be careful in buying posts and links. Are you even getting what you are paying for? Do not blindly buy any link seeing its PR. Ask yourself, is the cost of that link justifiable? Also, do not buy 1 month or 2 month links but if you really want to buy links, look for at-least 6 months to 1 year links. Do make sure that you only get link from related website and sites which can also give you some traffic. Avoid getting site-wide and footer links, but look for natural links.

Hi,

This post is about Backlinking Service and its advantages.

Let me take a moment and describe a moment in every website owner’s life… The site you worked hard to build has been up and running for 6 months. You are getting some sales but not near what you had hoped for when you decided to burn the midnight oil and go into this venture, hoping to maybe make your mortgage payment with the income from the site and get you a little more comfortable with your life. The search engines have you indexed. You have read all about how to use Google’s tools and have a nice sitemap submitted. You have studied meta tags and practically learned a whole new language of how the world wide web really works.

But when you go to find your site using the keywords you think your site should be listed with when people search you are not anywhere near the top. In fact, for most of the words, a person would need to click through 10-12 pages of listings to find yours. If they did just that, their trust factor would not be very high because, hey, Google has you listed 110 for that main keyword that you think your site is all about. And they probably trust Google more than they do you.

This is a common place many website owners find themselves at during some point in their business venture. They followed all the SEO rules but do not have their site ranked. They did all of the on-page niceties they could read about, but they still are not ranked. The missing ingredient to the great taste of success for the owner of this website is backlinks.

Backlinks are links that other websites put on their sites that provide a way for a viewer to get directly to your site by clicking on a term that will take them directly to their point of interest. The search engines love backlinks because they help to determine relevant sites for a search term. If a user is searching for “vacuum cleaners” and your site has a good number of backlinks to it with the term “vacuum cleaners” embedded into them, then the search engines will say to themselves, “Wow, this must be a relevant site for that term because all of these other web sites provide a way for a viewer to get directly to this site if they are interested in this term. I will give it a high ranking when a general user requests information for that search term.”

Now that you understand how it works, here is the hard part…getting sites to provide links to your site. Many people spend a lot of time at first trying to persuade website owners to give them a backlink in exchange for one from their site from yours. Most website owners do not want to trade down in website popularity (their site is more popular than yours is because yours is new) so they reject your offer. Site owners then begin to pay for the links to sweeten the deal for website owners and begin to pay a lot of money to get the links. The return on this activity is hard to calculate because there is such a large block of time involved in getting each deal signed, paid and then spent in verifying that the link is real and active. It is a hard way to go.

There are companies who have thought of the cure for this pain. They offer a backlinking service that will put links on websites that they own to help your search engine rankings improve dramatically. They will let you keep the backlinks forever so you do not need to keep paying a monthly fee to them. The fee is reasonable, usually around $100 per month per keyword to get 100 or so backlinks per month. For many frustrated website owners, finding these companies has been the key to their success of finally getting the traffic they need to be profitable resulting from the high organic search engine rankings.
