[How To] Jailbreak iPad 2 on iOS 4.3.3 Using JailbreakMe 3.0

in Apple

A couple of days back, JailbreakMe 3.0 was leaked by a private beta tester. The jailbreak was buggy and did not work for many iPad 2 users. Now, @Comex has released the final version of JailbreakMe 3.0 which enables users to jailbreak their iPad 2 on iOS 4.3.3 and install Cydia.

JailbreakMe 3.0 is a userland exploit (You don’t need to connect your iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch to a PC & then jailbreak). You can directly jailbreak using Mobile Safari via a WiFi or 3G connection. WiFi connection is recommended as jailbreak process can face issues on a 3G network.

Which Devices Are Supported by JailbreakMe 3.0?

Currently, the following devices and iOS firmwares are supported by JailbreakMe 3.0?

  • iPad 1: 4.3 through 4.3.3
  • iPad 2: 4.3.3
  • iPhone 3GS: 4.3 through 4.3.3
  • iPhone 4 GSM: 4.3 through 4.3.3
  • iPhone 4 CDMA: 4.2.6 through 4.2.8
  • iPod Touch 3G: 4.3, 4.3.2, 4.3.3
  • iPod Touch 4G: 4.3 through 4.3.3

How To Use JailbreakMe on iPad 2, iPhone or iPod Touch?

Step 1: Restore to a factory iOS using iTunes. Backup your data. Even if your iDevice is currently jailbroken using limera1n exploit, you can still use JailbreakMe 3.0. But, your Cydia apps will be deleted. You’ll need to re-install your Cydia apps again after using JailbreakMe 3.0

Step 2: Point your Mobile Safari to jailbreakme.com

Step 3: Click on Free & then Install. Your iPad 2, iPhone or iPod Touch will start getting jailbreaked & Cydia will start installing

Step 4: After complete install, you can use Cydia

Step 5 (Optional): Install “PDF Patcher 2″ from Cydia to patch the PDF vulnerability currently present in the iOS firmwares upto 4.3.3

Save SHSH Blobs

You’re advised to save SHSH Blobs of your iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch. Apple may release iOS 4.3.4 to patch the PDF vulnerability and hence you may lose jailbreak. You can use the saved SHSH blobs to go back to earlier iOS. Currently, it’s not possible to save iPad 2’s SHSH blobs. So iPad 2 users must be careful when iOS 4.3.4 comes out and must not update.
