Apple iPhone 4S is set to launch in US & other six countries tomorrow, October 14th. 22 more countries will be getting iPhone 4S by October 28th.

Apple iPhone 4S in India

BGR.in has confirmed that Apple will be officially launching iPhone 4S in India by November or December this year. Currently Airtel & Aircel are offering unlocked iPhone 4 for about 34,000 INR for 16 GB model & 40,000 INR for 32 GB model. Besides Airtel & Aircel, a third carrier will be getting iPhone 4S. But that third carrier is not Vodafone. The third carrier can be BSNL, Idea, Reliance or Uninor.

The iPhone 4S, which goes on sale in the US and a handful of other countries on Friday, is scheduled to be launched in India before the end of this year, credible sources told BGR India. These are the same sources who had informed us about the reverse subsidy model and that the iPhone 4 will be sold factory unlocked weeks before the official announcement from Apple and the two carriers – Aircel and Airtel. Currently, we are looking at a November launch, which might get delayed to December, depending on demand from countries where the iPhone 4S will be available before India. However, they are confident the launch will happen in 2011 itself.

Making a mobile phone comparison is never easy, as so many phones have similar features nowadays, and most are of the highest quality. Then there are brand-loyal consumers who stay faithful to one product or the other, so understand what makes one phone better than another usually comes from biased sources. Here we have four of the best smartphones from the market, and their features have been highlighted so you can make the judgment yourself.

Samsung Galaxy S II

The Samsung Galaxy S II offers dual core processing, an excellent camera, and 4G internet capabilities. Samsung Galaxy S II was recently launched in the US. This phone is available with discounts from certain cell phone service providers, but can also be bought unlocked for around $650 on Amazon/eBay. There are some complaints with the call quality on this phone, but overall its great features, terrific speed, and various Android applications make this a great option for your cell phone. The Samsung Galaxy is also perfect for watching movies, television shows, or YouTube videos while you are on the go, with its high definition picture quality capabilities.

Apple iPhone 4

The iPhone 4 has allowed Apple to set the standard in terms of mobile phone comparisons. The iPhone has the quality and reliability that you would want in a cell phone. It features a 1 GHz single core A4 processor with 512 MB RAM. Now that it can be used with both AT&T and Verizon (with speculations that Sprint may soon pick up the phone; no pun intended), there are no more concerns about quality of service either. It is well priced, starting at $199, and there is an endless collection of applications (over half a million) on the iTunes App Store. The unlocked version costs about $600-650. The iPhone also has a built-in GPS that allows you to track your movements and find your way if you are on the road.

LG Optimus 2X (G2X) 4G

The LG Optimus 2X (G2X) 4G is a Google phone that has a 1 GHz dual core processor, Android based software, and a built in camera. There are complaints about the camera quality, which could have been better, but this is a great cell phone nonetheless. It browses the internet and goes through applications at superfast speeds. There are also 3D graphics for certain games, which is a huge plus for avid gamers. The pricing starts at $149.99 with a T-Mobile contract in the US. The unlocked version costs approximately around $650.

HTC Sensation 4G

The HTC Sensation 4G has a great 4.3 inch HD display, along with an 8 megapixel camera and a 1.2 GHz processor. This makes it one of the fastest smartphones on the market, with great multi-tasking capabilities and an ever growing selection of Android applications available to buy and download. Android applications are some of the best in the market, and every Android application can run on this phone, as it is one of the most powerful phones around. Though the internet memory is not quite up to market standards, a memory card can rectify that easily. The phone starts at $199 and most versions are similarly priced to the iPhone. The unlocked version costs about $600.

If you do not know what a tablet PC is at this point you are really out of the picture. Since the original Apple iPad took the world by storm, just over 1 year ago, things have gotten extremely more competitive and 2011 is the year of the Tablet PC.

While Apple has launched its successor to the iPad, the iPad 2, other companies have also entered this sector and depending upon your needs and requirements there is bound to be a Tablet PC that suits.

Acer Iconia

Mobile Broadband

While the original iPad was primarily a unit that supported Internet access via Wi-Fi an upgrade was released fairly soon thereafter which allowed mobile broadband access also. Apple continues to sell both a Wi-Fi only version and also a Wi-Fi + 3G version which allows Mobile Broadband access via a micro SIM card. Competing products running the Google Android operating system also access Mobile Broadband networks through the use of a micro SIM card as their size precludes the use of a USB dongle.

A Choice of Tablets

  • iPad 2 – the largest single Tablet PC with almost 80% of the US market, the iPad 2 is still the one to beat. Apple’s App store is the largest amongst all the Tablet manufacturers and with a dedicated vetting process, you can rest assured that any App you purchase, download and install on your device will not only work – but will also look great!
  • Motorola XOOM – The XOOM is one of the newer devices on the block and with a 10″ screen, this Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) unit has a dual core processor and was the winner of the CES (Consumer Electronics Show) 2011 award for Best of Show! The Honeycomb operating system is Google’s first operating system specifically designed for Tablet PCs which means that applications are faster and work better with a sharper and clearer display.
  • ASUS Eee Pad Transformer – The Transformer is truly an innovative device. While this is a fully functional Tablet PC, by utilizing the built in docking port, you can convert this Tablet PC into a fully fledged PC simply by plugging in the almost full sized QWERTY keyboard! With an increased battery life and storage capacity, this small change makes a big difference.
  • M1 Touch – Microsoft’s entry into the Tablet PC market, the M1 Touch comes with a 10″ screen at a resolution of 1024×600. With a 160GB HDD and 3 full size USB ports this device runs Windows 7 and allows you to run all the applications that you have grown used to on your desktop or laptop PC.
  • Samsung Galaxy Tab – The Galaxy Tab is the pre-eminent competitor to the iPad and is currently the most popular alternative. The Tab comes in both a 7″ and a 10″ version and runs the Android 3.0 Honeycomb operating system similar to the XOOM. With both front and rear facing cameras and a very impressive touch screen, the Tab is a is an extremely impressive and fast unit.
