Sure there are occasionally giveaways and other means where one can really get something for nothing. However, if there is a site promising to give you premium dollars for almost no work at all, you are most likely staring down a scam. Avoid offers that promise top dollar awards for nearly no effort.

2. Don’t pay up front

If you are online or in the real world, you should be suspicious of promises of big bucks if you pay out first. Often these are scams looking for large application fees, licensing fees or some other sort of investment. There are legitimate sites that will request a fee, but that is usually after you get paid.

3. Think about what is cost effective

If you are getting started as a freelancer, for example, earning $10 for your very first article may be exciting, but it may not be cost effective. As a beginner, it may be hard to figure out how long it takes you to write an article. Once you start knowing how long it takes you to do what you are doing, you can figure out what your average hourly rate is an how much you need to make per piece or other element to make a fair hourly rate.

4. Don’t expect to get rich

Most legitimate online money making opportunities can provide supplementary income. This should be spending money, something that won’t be able to replace your regular income. This means you shouldn’t expect to end up set for life by following some online money making opportunities.

5. Explore different sites

If you are looking at making extra money online as a freelancer, you have a lot of opportunities. There are many different sites dedicated to setting up employers with available freelancers all over the globe. If you are trying to make a go of working online and not quite making it, don’t forget that there is more than one site. You may not be buried in work from the opportunities at one site, but if you explore multiple freelancing sites, you could end up with lots of potential employers before you know it.

Blogging can be a way for you to express yourself online. However, not only can blogging make you speak your mind, it can also let you earn dough online. Blogging, or web logging, can be a money making scheme for you and your thriving business.

Here are some things that you have to consider before posting your first blog:

  1. Determine your Niche. Just like any business venture, there has to be a thorough analysis of your market. In blogging, a market analysis is also a priority. Know who would most likely read your articles or visit your website. That way, you can streamline your content according to their needs. In addition, try to see which keywords could help you. These would help you have guidelines in your content and would allow you to specify topics that would be posted on your site.
  2. Content. More than anything, your content MUST be your priority. Your content will determine whether your blog is worth reading. If your content is good, you are most likely to receive good reviews or good comments. If your content is good, readers will also get to interact with you more. More interaction means more traffic. Keep this in mind: TRAFFIC is very important if you are doing business online. Content is like a good road pavement. If your pavement is good than that of the others, most travelers would prefer to pass by your street. Content is the same. Good content would almost always sum up to more visits.
  3. Web host. Find a web hosting site that is both cheap and reliable. You can usually get a host for 7 to 10 dollars. However, if you really like to start small, you can have a free web host like Blogger.com. This method though is not recommended by most bloggers. This would mean that there will be more bloggers than other (paid) sites. This means, your blog has a lesser chance of being read. Also, if there are any mishaps (read: lost blog), you cannot call anybody for help. Word of advice: shell out the $7. It is not much on your pocket, but it could sure do lots for your site.
  4. First impressions. It is advised to be creative and quirky in your blogs. You do not want your readers to fall asleep while reading, do you? Be creative. Be fun. But, do not deviate from your offered product or service. Usually, you can have a really playful layout, and add features that allow users to leave comments or interact with you. That way, their first impressions of your blog will be sustained. And hopefully, their interactions with you will result to a sale.
  5. Promote, promote, promote! If you already have your blog, remember to promote your site to increase your traffic. Recommend your site to friends on social networking sites. Ask them to recommend it to their friends too. Do not just post your blog and pray that someone visits your site. Take action and go online.

Put these things to heart, and be ready to post your first blog. If all goes well, you might have your sale faster than you can post your next entry.

I have been thinking to write this post from a couple of days, but I didn’t have much time to compile all the basic ways to make money online. Today it’s Sunday and I got couple of hours, so I am writing this post. This post is basically for newbies who come on the Internet to make some bucks. I’ll try to cover most basic ways to make money online. If I leave out something, please help me by commenting below ;)

I’ve been on the Internet since I was 11 years old and have been finding ways to make fortune since then.. So let’s start. Basically every geek on the Internet wants to make money online by doing something. I won’t go in very details, just a basic introduction to everything..

1. Make a Blog/Forum/Website:

Many young enthusiasts are coming on the Internet these days to start a blog or forum of their own. This is basically the most easiest way to make money online. If you don’t want to bother about domain name, you can get a blogger account, or a WordPress.com account. These services allow you to freely start a blog. Softwares like WordPress are available if you want to host your own blog with custom domain name.

You must choose a niche before you think about blogging. This step is important, as you must know what you’ll be writing about on your blog. Various niches include Technology, Health & Fitness, Marketing, Fashion, Sports, etc.. So, choose your niche wisely. Look out what you’re interested in and write about that.

You can also start a discussion forum if you want others to participate more interactively.. Softwares like Invision Power Board and vBulletin are paid forum softwares, while phpBB is the freely available version.

Now next step is to monetize your website. Newbies mostly go for Google Adsense, Chitika, Infolinks, etc.. Get approved by them and place ad codes on your website.

You can improve traffic to your website by social bookmarking (Facebook, Twitter, StumbleUpon), doing a little SEO, etc..

2. Affiliate Marketing:

Affiliate marketing is marketing about the products related to your niche. Commission Junction and ClickBank help you to sell digital products on your site and pay you the commission. Wide range of digital products are available. Amazon Inc’s Associate system lets you sell their products. In turn, they give pay you commission for the products which you help to sell. Lots of other sites are available, in different niches, for affiliate marketing.

3. Selling goods online:

If you have a business in your locality and want to bring it online, sites like eBay and Amazon can help you do so. Firstly, you list up your products online, then interested buyers can bid/buy your products. You get paid via PayPal or directly to your bank accounts.

4. Earn the Freelancer way:

A freelancer is somebody who is self-employed and is not committed to a particular employer long term.

A freelancer works according to his needs. Freelancers can work in the following fields:

  • Web Designing
  • Software Coding
  • Game Development
  • Logo Designing
  • SEO Optimization
  • Content Writing

  • become a security expert and get paid for fixing vulnerabilities on people’s websites
  • etc..

These are some of the ways to make money on the Internet. But, you’ll have to remain persistent and need to work honestly. You’re not going to earn just like that. There’s a lot of competition in every field. Thousands and thousands of blogs with same niche are present on the Internet. You need to make your blog outstanding. Similarly, lot of people work in the same filed of freelancing or sell similar items. You need to have patience in each and every field. Time is the answer to everything. Nothing happens at the first instance. So, don’t lose hope and keep working smartly.
