7 Surefire Ways To Increase Your Traffic

by Admin on May 17, 2009

Google Buzz

If you already have a site and you think that you’re not getting the traffic that you’re supposed to be getting, then its time to reconsider. If you are contending in this very competitive business world, you should always be a step ahead of your competitors.

Timing is essential, that’s an old adage known to everyone. But with generating traffic, you should always be on your toes and be a day ahead of everyone. Never think of today and tomorrow as a starting point for making your site traffic laden, it should always have been yesterday.

To help you out in generating more traffic for your site, here are some seven surefire ways to increase your traffic starting from yesterday.

1) Invest in good advertising with search engines

Google’s Adwords and Yahoo’s Overture provide great advertising schemes that are very truly popular and assures great traffic. Although with this surefire way to increase your traffic would cost some money. While some would shy away from spending money to increase traffic, it is imperative in this case to do so because Adwords and Overture is the top surefire way to increase your traffic.

You could see for yourself the success these search engine advertising methods have reaped rewards for so many companies. Lots of sites feature these advertising systems and many have signed on to reap the benefits. Do not be left up behind. Every penny is worth it with using Google and Yahoo’s advertising.

2) Exchange or Trade Links with other sites

With exchanging links with other sites, both of you will benefit from the efforts both of you do to enhance your site’s traffic. When one site features another site’s link, they could provide one another with the traffic one site generates. The efforts are doubly beneficial because it would seem like both of you are working to generate more traffic. The more links traded with more sites the more traffic could be expected.

3) Use Viral Marketing

Viral marketing allows you to spread the word about your company and product without any costs or if ever low costs only. This is a marketing method that can be quite sneaky; you can attach your company’s name, product or link to a certain media such as a funny video, entertaining game, an interesting article or a gossip or buzz. With this method, people get infected with the creativity and entertainment of the medium that they will pass it on to many people.

4) Search and use proper keywords or keyword phrases for your sites content

Search engines look for certain keywords that they would show in their results page. In doing so, having the right keyword and keyword phrase is a high requirement in ranking in high in search engine results. You could write your own content or you could hire someone to do it for you.

5) Write Articles that can lead traffic to your site

Submit articles to sites that would contain the same subject that your site deals in. If you sell car parts write press releases and articles about cars and car parts. Attach your sites description and services at the end of the article as well as the link.

6) Join forums and form online communities

Capture a market and show your expertise and credibility. When you find a good foundation for your site, people will trust you and your site and will pass on to many people their trust. Traffic will certainly increase because they know that you can provide what they need.

7) Lastly, Offer newsletters.

If many people know what you are about and your existence is shared with many others, you will find a loyal traffic that can provide you with more traffic by recommendation. If you arouse the curiosity of your customers they would be pushed to help you with your traffic.

Links and SEO

by Admin on April 18, 2009

Google Buzz

Without links, we would not have the internet with websites, as we do today. Links can be linked and traded with websites many different ways.

Links are able to be optimized to help establish relevancy of a website for selected keywords. Optimizing keywords and keyword phases using links is an important part of Search Engine Optimization that is often under estimated and frequently overlooked.

Linking to other websites and trading links with other websites is a very important part of SEO, but how links are linked makes all of the difference in the world. Not only does the contact on the website matter, but how links are linked to other pages and other websites matters too.

The way that webmasters and SEO experts link web pages internally and externally with other websites and/or web pages, determines Google PageRank and the search engine placement for all sites on the internet. Of course, every search engine has a different algorithm, which is the method that they use to determine that which web site is ranked in 1st place, top 10, top 20, and so on. Just because a website is 1st place at Google.com today does not mean it will be 1st place at Google.com tomorrow.

All search engine algorithms have differences, but one thing that all search engines do have in common is; they are attempting to establish relevancy for search engine users. Which basically means; it is trying to give you what it thinks you want based on what you search for and how you search for it.

When someone wants to find something on the internet, typically they use a search engine to attempt to find it. Search engines do not know what we want when we search for something, but by using a complex algorithm, the search engine attempts to make a calculated guess.

Google keeps their algorithm a closely guarded secret. Knowing this formula would be the key to success for any search engine optimization expert and/or anyone that wants have a website listed at the top of Google.com

I personally think how links are linked matters more than the website or websites that they are linked to.

The most effective way to create links when trying to establish relevancy of keywords for to placement at search engines, is by using anchor text with relevant keywords and/or keyword phrases to link to pages with relevant content.

1st place at Google.com is best place to have a website listed when performing search engine optimization, so that is what everyone seems to “aim for.”

Top 10 at Google is not bad, but just not as nice as first place. However, if a web site is not within the top 20 results for the keywords that you have selected, then the chance of a potential customer or new visitors finding that site not very high. Experts say that most people do not look beyond the top 20 results of a search engine when performing a search to attempt to find something. Search engines often update their algorithms in an attempt to improve the logic that it uses to help people find what they want on the internet.

If you have any advice, questions, or comments about Links and SEO, feel free to post it or add to this information.

How important is the TITLE for SEO

by Admin on March 27, 2009

Google Buzz

The <title> element is THE most important on-page signal that Google considers in their ranking algorithm. I typically try to have pages focused on one targeted keyword phrase… but I will include 2 or 3 keyword phrases if they are closely related and slight variations of one another.

I always put the most important phrase at the begining of the <title>, then the 2nd and 3rd most important phrase, if applicable. Typically the deeper you drill into the site, the fewer the phrases that appear in my <titles> because the focus of the pages get more and more specific, moving from head terms to long tail to longer tail terms. So my <title> elements get more and more specific.

The <h1> element is the 2nd most important on-page factor that influences Google’s ranking algorithm. It’s a good strategy to include in the <h1> the most important keyword phrase (or a slight variation) from your <title> element. Use an <h1> on every page… Don’t waste this opportunity to reinforce your targeted keyword phrase from the <title>.

The <h2> element is the 3rd most important on-page factor. I typically have my pages broken up into little sections or components. I give each of these an <h2> element. Since there are typically 4,5,6 or more of these per page, I use them to reinforce not only the most important keyword phrase in the <title> but also the 2nd and 3rd keyword phrase from the <title>. I try to use all of the <title> keyword phrases as well as variations (different conjugations of verbs from title, singular vs. plural, etc.)

I try to work the most important keyword phrase from the <title> into my page name, so that my URL is keyword rich. But do it in such a way that the URL does not look spammy.

Picking good <title>, <h1>, <h2>,… elements can go a LONG way towards making a page rank. Unfortunately, on-page SEO alone will usually not lead to great rankings even for less competitive terms… You need inbound links, preferably from relevant pages, but definitely with the major keyword phrase(s) or variations of the keyword phrase(s) as the link text to take you the rest of the way to the finish line.

5 SEO Mistakes you should Avoid

by Admin on January 25, 2009

Google Buzz

Hi,

Hope you all enjoying your weekends.

Here are 5 SEO mistakes that you should avoid for better search results.

1. DO NOT change the title of pages which are already doing well in SERPs. The moment you change the title, your page will surely go down in SERPs and will may or may not come again (in few weeks time) depending the extent of change you have done to it.

2. Meta Tags spamming. Don’t waste time in meta keyword stuffing. Its useless. Just keep very few keyword in it, if you want to.

3. Have same title and description for all the pages. Title is probably “the” most important element of your page. Sometimes, by mistakes (from newbies), either the title of all the pages becomes same or the description becomes similar. I have seen this a lot, in forums specially. So you better fix it.

4. Too many links on a page, and worst, too many useless links on a page. Make sure you nofollow your registration pages, login pages as well as footer and other useless links to avoid PR leak. Also try to avoid those site-wide menu links which don’t add much value in terms of usability.

5. Excessive use of ajax, javascript and flash. Avoid using them too much, at-least not on content rich pages. Its alright to use them but make sure, they don’t “get” your important content.
