Yesterday, I wrote about GEVEY Team working on iPhone 4 Hardware unlock solution. I also posted a video showing the demo of GEVEY Sim in action.
The method that this sim uses is the Man-In-The-Middle Attack, as the sim imposes as a Sim Interposer.

The post in the above link mentions that this new trick will work on networks supporting the 112 emergency number. But, here in India, 112 number is not in use. It neither connects to any line nor redirects to any other number.
So, I asked @ApplenBerry whether GEVEY Sim will work in India without the 112 emergency number.
And the reply was YES!
I asked:

So it’s a good news for Indian iPhone 4 users stuck in the locked situation. GEVEY Sim will probably releasing tomorrow, March 18th, according to the following tweet:
@Shepel_dv It was hard to keep track of everyone so I took it off the pre-order. Its confirm that we will sell on March 18.
We will tell you more about the sim, pricing details, etc when it is released.
Also, by the weekend, @MuscleNerd will tell us about the NCK Unlock method, whether it can be implemented or not.

112 number does work in india. I tried calling it today and it rang..
It’s not working for me. I tried on Sony Ericsson, Nokia and an iPhone, all in vain..
yaa 112 does work when i called from nokia phone.. 1st a lady said in electronic voice ” Namsaskar lucknow control room mein aap ka swagat hai kripya pratiksha karein “and it started ringing but after that i hanged the call…
i stay in lucknow and i am using bsnl sim ..
but when i called from vodafone nos it says “number not in use” on display screen..my vodafone nos is from delhi and currently it is in roaming in lucknow…
..
but when i cal from iphone 4 locked to at&t with at&t sim(not active) in it .it says “the nos u r callling is not available at the moment”
112 is not working here in India. Dont know if the tech will work since it is emergency call dependent.
Also its gonna be a loooong time before the thing reaches us.. Ordered a part for a blackberry once from one of the .cn sites and it took a whole month!! Has to go through customs and be valued and stuff…
Trying to check if anyone I know is going to Shangai so they can buy the thing off the rack…
This is a great news… Its been more than 2 months m using my iPhone 4 as ipod.

If 112 is not going to work in india… how does unlock will do ?
This unlock will work only if:
1. your network handles 112 calls properly according to the GSM standard.
2. If Network are tolerant to TSMI spoofing and does not actively validate your SIM again for incoming calls
I tried to call from my iPhone(locked to At&t) and the lady said the number you have called is invalid.. I stay in Mumbai.. If turbo sim works then what’s the procedure without 112 support ??

We all have to wait till someone tests the GEEY Sim in India. I’m also trying to order the GEVEY Sim for myself. I’ll soon update the blog after getting any useful information. Stay tuned.

This works only for few cities in India. In most of other cities, 112 number doesn’t work!

Yes! Gevey will apparently work for you. You can get it from eBay if you require urgently. ApplenBerry.com is still working to ship to countries like India. It may take 1-2 week.
when i tried calling 112 from my iphone4 . its say the call cannot be completed at the moment, please try after sometime. what does it mean? should i buy turbo sim or not .. please lemme know soon.

I live in Hyderabad india. when i tried calling 112 from my other phone, it started ringing… So it is working. But I heard in some forum,
if your iPhone
1, loses power,
2. loses the reception or
3. move to another PLMN,
you have to perform the unlock procedure again.
So How good is it?
It’s good if you are desperate to have an unlock. I’m also thinking to buy GEVEY Sim.
does this sim really costs 5000rs ?

GEVEY Sim doesn’t need 112 to work properly. You just need to call 112 and hang up in 2 seconds. This is needed to bypass the baseband. I’ve made a post which tells you 3 ways in which you can buy GEVEY in India.

i have new iphone 4(lock) from UK. i have try it gevey sim with airtel it was working fine in hyd- bad, when i back to mumbai. I try with same sim it was not working. plz suggest me what to do
Firstly, I suppose UK sells factory unlocked iPhones. Anyways, what’s the problem that you’re facing? Are you able to get GEVEY Welcome screen? Is roaming activated on your Airtel card? Try that Airtel card in some other mobile phone. Also try some other card in your locked iPhone.
