Apple announced the iPhone 4S on October 4th. We were hoping to get a complete upgrade including a bigger display and an aluminum back. But, Apple has retained the external design of iPhone 4 with internal hardware modifications.

Samsung Galaxy S II has been available since April 2011. It was recently launched in the US on AT&T.

I’ve chosen Samsung Galaxy S II to compare with iPhone 4S. Samsung Galaxy S II has quite good features to compare with Apple’s iPhone.

Apple iPhone 4S vs. Samsung Galaxy S II – Technical Comparisons

[table id=1 /]

Samsung Galaxy S II has a better screen size & a 1.2 GHz CPU. Also, it has 1 GB RAN. But iPhone 4S has a dual core GPU that gives 7x more performance than iPhone 4. The primary camera of the 4S sports a CMOS sensor with better lighting. The secondary camera on iPhone 4S is just VGA while Galaxy S II has a 2 megapixel secondary camera.

Also, iPhone 4S has 960 x 640 display resolution with only 800 x 480 on Galaxy S II. Galaxy S II also sports a Gorilla glass. iPhone 4S doesn’t have a Gorilla glass but the quality is nearly the same as that of a Gorilla glass.

Not to forget, Apple iPhone 4S comes with iOS 5 which has more than 200 new features than iOS 4. Large number of apps are available for the iPhone 4S. Galaxy S II comes with Android 2.3.4. It also has good number of apps and games.

In the end, I’d like to say there’s a big competition between iPhone 4S and Galaxy S II. There’s not much difference between the prices of both these devices. If you’re a loyal Apple fan, then you can go for iPhone 4S. But, if you’d like to try something new, you can buy Samsung Galaxy S II.
