Apple recently seeded iOS 5 GM (Golden Master) version to developers. This is the last beta build of iOS 5 released by Apple. The iOS 5 final version will be available on October 12th to the public.

Update: GEVEY Sim Works on iOS 5 Final Version with Preserved Baseband

And, iPhone Dev Team & iH8Sn0w also updated their jailbreak tools to provide tethered jailbreak for iOS 5 GM. redsn0w 0.9.9b3 and sn0wbreeze 2.8b8 are available for download now.

sn0wbreeze lets you update to a different iOS version while preserving the baseband. Baseband preservation is needed for ultrasn0w and GEVEY sim.

A good news is that GEVEY Sim works on iOS 5 GM while preserving older baseband (04.10.01 & below). So now you can unlock iPhone 4 on iOS 5 GM using GEVEY sim.

Here are the screenshots:

Thanks to @w2no for the screenshots. He followed the regular 112 procedure to make GEVEY sim work on iOS 5 GM.

Do you have a step-by-step guide to show how to use Snowbreeze to hacktivate and preserve baseband when updating to iOS 5 ?

Thanks

Ray,

Did you use sn0wbreeze to build custom firmware or directly updated to factory iOS 5? Please follow the steps in this post.

Hi,
I upgraded to factory iOS5 a few days ago and since then the Gevey SIm has stopped working. I did not use snowbreeze. Is there a solution that is available?

Ashank, you shouldn’t have upgraded to iOS 5 directly. Unfortunately, you’re stuck with a locked iPhone & currently there’s no solution for it.

hello, i have iphone 4, baseband: 02.10.04, ios 5.0.1 and the gvevy turbo sim is really works.
i preserved my baseband by doing a custom IPSW through snowbreeze and thats all.
the only problem that i faced with her was that before i dial 112 there is no “one signal bar” i just recive a message that “no signal” and after it, i dial 112 and doing the other steps and everything works.
