[How To] Identify Fake GEVEY Pro SIMs

ApplenBerry recently launched successor to GEVEY SIM i.e. GEVEY Pro. I made a post to help identify differences between real and fake GEVEY sims. Now, this post will tell you the differences between real and fake GEVEY Pro sims.

Tony Wanis (@TonyWanis) passed me this tip. Thanks to him. Also, I got some information from ModMyi forums.

So here are the images:

Here’s the first pic:

GEVEY Pro Original

Okay, about the packaging first.

Original GEVEY Pro Packaging

The original GEVEY Pro packaging doesn’t have any hologram sticker on it, as the cloned one has. “Pro” is printed at the lower side on the original packet whereas the fake one has “Pro” on the upper side.

And here’s the inside GEVEY plastic packet:

Original GEVEY Pro Packet

The real one is bigger and is opaque. It is not transparent. The fake one is of lower quality and is transparent as you can see in the image above.

And now the differences between the actual GEVEY Pro ICs:

Original GEvEY Pro IC

  • The legit one has GEVEY engraved on it, whereas the fake one has GEVEY printed on it
  • The black IC chip is way too big than the original IC chip
  • There is some off wiring, bad connections and off coloring on the cloned GEVEY chips
  • The wiring is proper on the original one
  • “Pro” is engraved on the chip of original GEVEY as seen in the lower left image above
  • Also there are proper holes made on the original one
  • And on the fake one “Pro” is printed and the holes are not proper
  • Also, the color of fake GEVEY Pro Sim trays is not of high quality. It is quite dull

That’s all folks! And one more thing Tony Wanis who tipped me this is a legal distributor of GEVEY Pro sims. He’s selling GEVEY Pro for $35 and prices can reduce in the near future. He’ll also be listing the item on eBay. So if ApplenBerry.com doesn’t ship to your country, you can try buying from this guy.. Here’s a pic showing that this guy is legal distributor:

And according to ModMyi post,

most of the fakes are made by i-smart sim (aka ismartphone which had a horrible rep during the iphone 3g turbo sim era) they also sell unbranded ones while branding others as gevey.

Could you please tell me what are the problems with the fake Gevey Pro SIM? Because many people who are using the fake ones aren’t facing any issues.

Is signal drop, battery drain, iphone getting burnt because of fake gevey all a myth or proven?

Cloned GEVEY sims provide you with network. The battery drain is also not much issue. Original GEVEY pro’s have more battery drainage than the cloned ones. But, if you pay $35 for a cloned sim then you’re scammed.

What’s all the fuss about fake GEVEY cards? I’ve been selling tens of them, and so far, none, absolutely none of the people I sold them to has complained about them. On the other hand, I know someone who sold original ones, and people complained about some of them.

I just bought a new iPhone and a “fake” gevey sim card, and I know nothing about it, apart from what I just read from this site. Since I got the card, my phone has never been fully charged and I constantly lose the signal. I think my phone battery is dying fast. Can someone please help me? Im not sure if the problem is from the sim card, or the phone itsel. Any help would be appreciated.

Zaid,

Try network reset from Settings. If this doesn’t work, try hard reset by pressing home + power button. If problem persists, I recommend you to change the GEVEY sim.

Hi,

What about the IC chip design? Is it the same as shown above? If yes, you don’t need to worry. ApplenBerry must’ve changed the packet design.

so, what do you recommend? the fake gevey sim or the real one? because ive been reading at these posts that the REAL gevey sim causes more problems…?

Yeah. The original GEVEY pro has some battery issues. If you want to spend lesser bucks and are ok with the quality, then buy the cloned GEVEY pro.

What will the fake sim do though? If I have one and I use it, will it break my phone or will it just work but break faster? I’ve heard that the fakes work fine in some cases while in others they short circuit the phone’s battery. Anyone know the truth?

Kaustubh,

Your GEVEY Sim might have been degraded due to heat and usage. So the particular problem might have arised. But, I suggest you to first try resetting Network settings and see if the problem persists.

I’m using GEVEY Ultra currently and don’t have issues with call connection or anything else.

hey..does network based internet works on ordinary gevey sim (not pro gevey sim)??
and does it work on pro gevey sim?

Reply

Yes Hazel. Edge and 3G data work on regular Gevey, Gevey pro and Gevey ultra. You just need to turn on Cellular data as well as Data roaming in Settings.
