By now there is no doubt that SEO has certain benefits and if you want to get the maximal exposure for your website, then you can’t neglect it. Even if you think you’ve mastered SEO and are ranking high in Google searches, the challenge of matching this success abroad is serious. In theory you should use the same system that worked for your domestic sites, but there are some elements that you should take into account if you want to replicate the success.

International SEO

Language is the Barrier

International SEO, or ISEO as it is known will frequently hit an obstacle that must be overcome, and this is the language barrier. English is known all over the world but this is not enough if you don’t want to settle with the second best and the only solution in most cases is translation. There are certain automated programs that perform translations fairly well, but if you are going to use these tools alone then you should prepare for a fair share of humiliations. No matter how accurate the translation service it, it can’t beat the human yet, so you’d better have a person dealing with the translation altogether or at least proofread the texts.

Keywords Matter

Another proof that you will sometime have to resort to a native speaker is that in most cases there are specific slangs and idioms that are being used. These differ greatly from one country to another, so even if two people are searching for the same products, they will probably use different keywords. By having a native speaker who understands the culture and has a strong command of that particular language is going to make the difference in your favor.

If you are still not convinced about the utility of having a translator who speaks English just as well as his native language, then Twitter might change your mind. Imagine that you want to send tweets in a different language and there are two problems that instantly pop up and can’t be tackled by a translating bot. The first is that each letter counts and your message has to be very clear, because there is no chance to understand from the context if a mistake has been committed. The second revolves around the sheer length of the tweet, with the 140 limit being prohibitive for other languages where a few English words will require many more for an accurate translation.

Local Domains must be registered

Once you get pass the content issue, it is very important to register a local domain and try to get familiar with the algorithms used by the search engines these users use. There are certain differences compared to what you might be used to and that’s why implementing ISEO is very important from the early stages. The goal is to make it easy for customers to find your business online and this can be achieved by using the right keywords and an attractive design. It is paramount to know the potential customer, his habit and preferences and prove in every way you can that you are dedicated to meet his expectations, and you will have a lot to gain.

If you want to improve your international SEO techniques, then the above tips must be practiced & put into use.

The goal is to make a site easy to find, easy to follow, and easy to read for search spiders and live-visitors, with well written topical content and relevant incoming links. While basic SEO can be time consuming in the early stages, the results are worth the effort and set the stage for more advanced future work.
