LG’s Optimus 2X is one of a wave of phones released by the Korean company in recent months. LG had a quiet 2010 but is looking to make headway in 2011 with this device and the rest of the Optimus range. So, the Optimus is its first dual core phone, so what are the top things about the LG Optimus 2X?

Features

Dual Core

The LG Optimus 2X is the company’s first foray into the dual core processor range, which has taken phones by storm in 2011. LG’s chip is a Tegra 2 1GHz dual core processor that is so quick that there is little available on phones that will really push its boundaries just yet. This chip makes the phone ideal for gaming and high powered tasks and we can expect it to be utilised really soon. For now though it is future proof.

Body

The 2X is like all LG phones recently – pretty. The device is a minimalist monolithic design that is attractive to most people and probably one of the most attractive in the current phone market. Its lack of buttons and sheer blackness when off give it a Zen like appeal. It also feels nice in the hand and has a nicely shaped body giving it the feel of a premium device.

Screen

The device’s screen is also something to write home about and is a great phone for the outdoors. To be honest it nearly competes with the Samsung Galaxy SII’s Super AMOLED Plus screen. It’s a bright offering that has excellent depth of colour and really offers great whites and blacks. It’s super bright and can be quite easily seen in direct sunlight, giving it a bit of an edge of the Samsung display. Its 4in size is also on the large side making it ideal for watching footage, browsing the web or playing games.

Camera

Couple this screen with a good 8mp shooter and you have a device that really is excellent. It can also take 1080p video and is DNLA enabled as well as having a HDMI port – meaning you can watch footage on your TV or monitor.

Although there have been a few dual core smartphones released since, the 2X is the one that started it all. It also remains an excellent smartphone in today’s market, ideal for entertainment and online features. If the 2X is anything to judge the rest of the upcoming Optimus line-up by, then 2011 is going to be the best year for LG’s mobile division to date.

Price

LG have decided they can’t keep up with the big boys and have released the LG Optimus 2X at a slightly lower cost than other premium phones. LG Optimus 2X is available in India about Rs. 25,000. In UK, you can probably get the device for around the £400 mark sim free or on a good £20-£25 contract and can be had for as little has £15 per month. This puts it in the second tier of phones as far as price goes but leaves it with a top end spec.

Where To Buy LG Optimus 2X?

LG Optimus 2X is available for about $499 on Amazon. It is also available to buy on eBay.com & eBay.in. And as mentioned above, you can buy LG Optimus 2X in UK with a £20-£25 contract.
