R-SIM IV for 04.11.08/04.12.01 was based on SAM Unlock. But unfortunately Apple has patched their activation servers. So this will no longer work.
Earlier today I blogged about ApplenBerry releasing Gevey Ultra for 04.11.08 & 04.12.01. Another Chinese manufacturer is releasing R-SIM IV to unlock iPhone 4 on basebands 04.11.08 and 04.12.01.

R-SIM IV unlocks iPhone 4 on iOS 4.x.x, iOS 5, iOS 5.0.1 and iOS 5.1. It can unlock basebands 01.59, 02.10, 03.10.01, 04.10.01, 04.11.08 and 04.12.01. Jailbreak is required because R-SIM IV depends on FuriousMod which can be installed from Cydia. Currently, an untethered jailbreak is available for iOS 5.0.1 & a tethered jailbreak is available for iOS 5.1.

The price of R-SIM IV is less than the price of new Gevey Ultra. R-SIM IV costs only $19.99 whereas Gevey Ultra costs $49.99. We don’t know any other differences between R-SIM IV & Gevey Ultra. R-SIM IV might be based on the same exploit used by Gevey Ultra. We don’t yet know about any heating issues with any of the sims.
