iH8sn0w has updated sn0wbreeze to support iOS 5 Beta 5 jailbreak with baseband preservation mode. Sn0wbreeze is mainly useful for providing unlock via ultrasn0w or GEVEY on older basebands.

In the latest release of sn0wbreeze, iH8sn0w has also added Hacktivation ability. With hacktivation, you don’t need original carrier’s sim to activate your iPhone. Also, sn0wbreeze 2.8 beta 5 will let you activate iOS 5 Beta 5 on your device even if you aren’t a developer and not registered with Apple’s Developer program. I don’t know why iH8sn0w chose to do this, but this will only promote piracy!

Anyways, here is a complete list of features in sn0wbreeze 2.8 beta 5:

  • Supports iOS 5 beta 5 (9A5228d)
  • Supports Hacktivation ability
  • Option to remove UDID developer check/Beta Timer
  • Fixes Baseband preservation standalone mode

Sn0wbreeze 2.8 beta 5 supports the following devices:

  • iPhone 3GS [Old bootrom & New bootrom]
  • iPhone 4 [GSM & CDMA]
  • iPad 1
  • iPod Touch 3G
  • iPod Touch 4

The jailbreak is tethered for all the devices listed above, except iPhone 3GS with old bootrom. Tethered devices need to boot via iBooty to enjoy the jailbreak on reboot.
